The National CPD Team is involved in a range of activities which support the delivery of the four capacities within Curriculum of Excellence.
The team takes the holistic view that all aspects of professional development will enhance the ability of teachers, whatever their area of expertise or responsibility, to provide the learning environment envisaged by the Curriculum for Excellence framework. The Four-stage model provides a robust framework within which the team operates.
The scope of the work of the team covers:
- dialogue with local authorities and schools to gain an insight into the approaches which are being taken across the country; this scoping exercise involves local authority, voluntary and independent provision
- sharing insights and interesting practice through the CPD Network
- dialogue with further and higher education institutions on the themes of transition, and initial and ongoing teacher training
- collaboration with GTCS, Education Scotland and ADES
- review of PRD and CPD processes
- collaboration with Scottish Government professional advisers
- collaboration with associated professionals (eg the Allied Health Professional Team)
- leading with SCSSA the Learning Rounds initiative
- establishment and development of the Flexible Routes to Headship
- establishment and development of online support for CPD including CPDFind and CPDReflect.
