Support for CPD managers

All Scottish local authorities have identified specific people to lead CPD within Education. Depending on the size and structure of the local authority, the remit may be covered by one person or may be shared between a team.

The National CPD Team supports CPD managers in a number of ways:

  • by building and supporting a CPD community of practice
  • by offering opportunities for CPD managers to join in collaborative working groups (eg PRD group, Network Planning Group, etc)
  • by acting as a forum for information and discussion through face-to-face and online contact (eg CPDScotland website and CPD Team blog)
  • by organising regular CPD Network events and an annual two-day conference
  • by supporting visiting international thought leaders
  • by offering support visits to local authorities
  • by responding to requests from CPD managers to present on CPD issues at local meetings
  • by offering specific support to new CPD managers
  • by offering  associate membership of the CPD Team to CPD managers (visit the CPD Team blog for an example)
  • by responding to requests for advice, information and documentation and by identifying peer support as appropriate.
